Host Flash™ is the ultimate hosts file manager for Linux. Host Flash™ has an interactive setup program that makes it easy to install, update and control host name blacklists within the Linux host file. Host Flash™ has a long history.
Many years ago, way back in 2011, the founder of JournalXtra.com wrote a guide to explain how to use a computer’s host file to block ads and to block access to known malicious websites. That guide can be read here.
At the time of writing the article, the author kept telling himself he would sit down and write a Linux hosts file management program to download hosts blacklists, compile a single blacklist then install the blacklist into the hosts file. He reminded himself to write the program in 2011, again in 2012, then in 2013, and again in 2014.. until eventually he wrote the hosts file management program for Linux in 2015. Host Flash™ is that program.
Host Flash™ is the ultimate hosts file manager for Linux that allows use of remotely sourced hosts blacklists, locally stored blacklists and whitelists to modify blacklists retrieved from remote sources. The interactive setup program allows the configuration to be saved as a Quick Run profile ready for use with future hosts file updates.
We want Host Flash™ to remain the hosts file manager of choice for Linux admins. We encourage you to send us suggestions for new program features and program enhancements. Use the contact form here to get in touch with us.
